Hard Disk Drives
All drives are used, unless noted. We do a multi-stage format proceedure, which is as follows:
- Drive is DOD-compliant low-leve formatted, and random binary information ends up being written to the drive platters.
- Drive is then partitioned in DOS, for FAT32 file system.
- Drive is then formatted using a standard DOS formatting method, at the command prompt.
The benefit of such a system, is that it uses three different utilities, and we will not sell a drive that shows any errors during any step of this process. Generally any bad sectors are picked up on during DOD-level formatting. If not, and bad sectors do exist, they will be found during the DOS level formatting and partitioning.
While in some cases, the drive rotational speed is printed somewhere on the drive labels, most cases we refer to the drive manufacturer's website for speeds.
We attempt to ensure the correct drive rotational speeds are listed, and in theory at least, there should be no deviations. If you find that a drive performs significantly different than shown, contact us and we will make it right!
